A weekend at Fox Hill Caravan Park, Claxton, nr York.

We were supposed to be going for a weekend away at a Caravan and Motorhome Club Site in Lincolnshire.

I had been delayed by work and decided to call ahead and let the warden know that there was a chance we could be a couple of minutes late.

After explaining our predicament, we were told in no uncertain terms that if we didn't get booked in before 8:00pm we would be spending the night in the car park. I was still up for going, but just out of badness because I would have parked across the access road, preventing entry or exit. Courtney was the voice of reason on this occasion, and we decided to cancel the booking and go elsewhere.

Fox Hill was the first site we called. They had vacancies, so we booked in and set off.

When we got there, we were told that their main site was full, which was a bit depressing after being told they had vacancies, but we were shown the overspill site and told we would have it to ourselves.

The overspill was a big field with a few electric pitches. We relished the thought of being on our own to just enjoy the break. No cars driving around the site, no people walking across our pitch, and no balls hitting the caravan.

It really was great to be able to sit out and enjoy a glass of wine and some cheese and biscuits, just soaking up the atmosphere.

We returned home a couple of days later, fabulously refreshed.
